I am a Consultant Oculoplastic and Lacrimal Surgeon at Macclesfield Hospital with extensive experience in the management of periocular trauma and orbital emergencies.
I have completed the majority of my ophthalmic and oculoplastic training, including a dedicated Oculoplastic, Orbital and Lacrimal Fellowship at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, a tertiary referral centre managing a high volume of complex orbital and periocular emergency cases.
I regularly teach lateral canthotomy and cantholysis as a sight-saving emergency procedure. My teaching is primarily directed at emergency department clinicians and focuses on early recognition of orbital compartment syndrome, clear and practical indications for intervention, essential applied anatomy, and hands-on procedural training. A key aim of my teaching is to develop clinicians’ confidence to perform this procedure safely and effectively within the emergency department setting.
